PTJ Playlist: International Women’s Day 2026
Hey everyone!
Happy International Women’s Day!
Today I wanted to post a playlist celebrating all the kick ass women in the music industry that I’ve grown up listening to and admire. I’m talking generations of women here. All talented, hard working, smart, fun, caring, non conforming, no nonsense trailblazers who helped let women know that we and our voices matter.
For this list I wanted to pick bangers, hidden gems, oldies but goodies, classics and new favorites. It’s definitely a bit longer than a normal PTJ Playlist but hopefully you’ll be to busy rocking out to care!
I didn’t really pick a theme, but I chose songs that I love and feel represent the wide array of topics that women face through out life. Whether it’s love, heartbreak, vulnerability, trauma, insecurities, standing up for what you believe is right, dealing with bullies, or just reminding yourself and the world of your worth, this list has a little bit of everything so join me won’t you as I pay homage to some of the biggest legends in the game!
Also there’s no regular little blurb’s with the songs like normal, except for one, which I felt was necessary to include with that particular song and I was going to try and organize the list by decade but seriously gave up 2 minutes in so please enjoy the madness of my randomness.
Ok, if you’re ready, Let’s Go Girls!!
30 years ago a movie called The First Wives Club came out. Have you seen it?!?! No, well, you maybe you should. It stars Goldie Hawn, Bette Midler and the late great Diane Keaton and follows their characters as they deal with divorces and ex husbands and a plot to get revenge in the best way possible. It’s a classic and an awesome way to celebrate strong, powerful women who want to make a difference.
There’s two great moments that always stand out in my brain. Number 1: Ivana Trump delivers a beautifully timed line of “ladies, we have to be strong and independent and remember, don’t get mad, get everything!” which if you know why that is epic, I applaud you.
And second is a great scene where Diane Keaton sings the only song that honestly, in my opinion, is the best way to kick off this list, especially in 2026.
Hands down, still one of the best anthems around so here’s to starting off in style….
